MULTIMEDIA ARTIST
Luppino’s work travels across two main realms: the realm of sound and the realm of moving images. Through these domains Luppino finds herself exploring the dimension of noise and the relationship between the viewer/listener and the artist/composer.
Her projects analyse a socio-cognitive deafness. By “deafness” Luppino means the divorce of society from immediate reality and face-to-face communication, in the age of text-based digital communication. Luppino visualises this phenomenon through the medium of moving images and by conveying the state of mind of the artist and the audience’s reaction through the transmission and perception of sound. By doing so Luppino aims to use the act of listening to illuminate this serious issue of dysfunctional communication.
Looking at the world through our ears is an immersive experience that leads us to understand the social dimension of the world. Considering that human subjectivity is constructed in the acoustic means that social interactions and psychological conditions are highly related to the acoustic environment people live in, considering that individuals respond to the tunes they are familiar with. Therefor understanding human limits of noise tolerance, cognitive- behavioural reactions and body reactions to sound is a topic of considerable interest for Luppino’s body of work.
Luppino currently lives and works in London where she specializes her studies on Fine Art/crossing media at Central St Martins School of Art and Design and Information Experience Design at the Royal College of Arts. She is a professional successful Art Director with a multi-cultural experience in Milan, Paris, San Francisco and London.
