THE DOPPELGANGER

devised & prototyped

The Doppelgänger is a non-linear system for embodied sonic experience. This project explores embodied music cognition. It is conceived as a parameter for interaction as a new form of musical instrument, where the audience experience sonic sensory feedbacks through their body rather than though the ears.

The Doppelgänger is a sonic sculpture that allows the listener to resonate within the piece by reacting to specific sound vibrations. Sonic vibrations can be palpable. Through vibrations sound provokes emotions, nevertheless it can affect the wellbeing and can be connected to different states of the mind and the body. Therefor Sound has the power of generating social conditions. It becomes a phenomenological object of interpretation and a political/economical weapon, therefor listening is a profound, skillful, ethical act.
